Hello, neighbors! As we head into the stretch from September 21 through October 1, Chula Vista's calendar is on the quieter side — but don't let that fool you. There's one genuinely can't-miss event circled on our team's calendar this go-round, plus the weekly gathering that never lets us down. Here's what we could actually verify is happening, no filler, no guesswork.
Chula Vista ArtFest 2026
Saturday, September 26 | 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. | City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA 91910
Chula Vista ArtFest 2026 is the fourth annual community celebration of our talented South Bay artists, coming Saturday, September 26, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at City Hall. This is the big one this cycle — a full day of local artists, makers, and creative talent showing off what makes the South Bay's art scene so special. Bring the whole family, grab some shade near City Hall, and plan to spend a few hours browsing. It's free, it's outdoors, and it's about as hyperlocal as community events get.
Chula Vista Farmers' Market
Sunday, September 27 | 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Park Way between Third & Fourth Avenues, Downtown Chula Vista
Our beloved weekly market is back for its Sunday run within this window. You'll find the Third Avenue Village Market on Park Way between Third and Fourth Avenues every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm, with produce, pastured eggs, freshly baked breads, sauces and salsas, flowers, and more from California farmers and local food makers. It's a wonderfully bilingual, walk-around-and-say-hi kind of morning — strollers, dogs on leashes, kids sampling fruit, abuelas picking out flowers. The market sits next to beautiful Memorial Park, so if the kids get antsy, there's plenty of green space to run off energy after you've filled your tote bag.
A Note on This Week's Calendar
We did our homework digging through city listings, community calendars, and local event boards for this specific window, and honestly — outside of ArtFest and the farmers market, we couldn't verify any other confirmed, dated events happening in Chula Vista or the South Bay between September 21 and October 1. Rather than pad this list with "maybe" events or things we found for other dates, we'd rather give it to you straight: two solid, family-friendly, wallet-friendly outings this stretch, and both are worth carving out time for.
If you're looking to fill out the rest of your weekend, Chula Vista's parks remain a great fallback — Memorial Park, Harborside Park, and the Bayfront trails are always open for a sunset walk, and this time of year the evenings are starting to cool off just enough to make an outdoor stroll genuinely pleasant.
Our Pick of the Week
If you can only make it to one thing, make it ArtFest. It's the kind of event that reminds you why so many of us chose to put down roots in Chula Vista in the first place — a real, homegrown celebration of the people who make this community colorful (literally). Bring cash for the vendors, bring the kids, and bring a friend who's never been to a South Bay art event before.
As always, we love hearing from you — if you swing by ArtFest or the Sunday market and snap a good photo, tag us or send it our way. We're always looking to feature real neighbors enjoying real Chula Vista moments in future roundups.
