Local growers, bakers, and small food vendors line historic Third Avenue with fresh produce, flowers, and ready-to-eat treats. It's a wonderfully walkable, family-friendly evening out, and a great way to support small local businesses while you're at it. Bring a reusable bag and your appetite!

Our Chula Vista Public Library branches are a genuine community treasure, and their storytime programs remain a go-to for parents of toddlers and preschoolers. Tucked right on the Chula Vista Bayfront, the Living Coast Discovery Center is one of South Bay's hidden gems. Weekends typically bring keeper talks, animal feedings, and up-close encounters with native San Diego Bay wildlife — sharks, sea turtles, birds of prey, and more. It's an easy, educational outing for families, and the bayfront trail views alone are worth the trip. Great for all ages, and a nice shady/waterfront break from the late-summer heat.
Rohr Park & Sweetwater Regional Park

If you just want an open-air weekend hang, Rohr Park remains one of the most popular gathering spots in the area — think picnic tables, a disc golf course, a duck pond, walking paths, and shaded picnic shelters.
