Chula Vista Farmers' Market (Third Avenue Village Market) 09/20/2026

By David Cardenas - September 18, 2026

Good morning, neighbors! We dug through every local calendar we could find for the weekend of September 19-20, and this stretch is a quiet one on the festival front — no big headline fairs or bayfront concerts land in this exact window. But that doesn't mean there's nothing to do. One long-running Chula Vista tradition is happening right on schedule, and it's worth building your Sunday morning around.

Chula Vista Farmers' Market (Third Avenue Village Market)

When: Sunday, September 20, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (also happening Sunday, October 4, if you can't wait)
Where: Park Way, between Third and Fourth Avenues, Downtown Chula Vista

The Third Avenue Village Market sets up in Downtown Chula Vista on Park Way between Third and Fourth Avenues every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm. Located beside Memorial Park, the market brings together over 70 vendors whose colorful booths beckon residents and visitors alike, rain or shine. Expect tables piled high with fresh produce, eggs, breads, salsas, and flowers — the kind of morning where you leave with a canvas bag full of something you didn't plan on buying, plus a coffee in hand.

This is a California Certified farmers' market operated by the Downtown Chula Vista Association in cooperation with farmer's market veteran Catt Fields White and San Diego Markets, so you're getting the real deal — local growers and makers, not a pop-up imitation. It's an easy, no-cost outing that works for strollers, abuelitas, and everyone in between, and it's a great spot to practice a little Spanish or English with vendors either way — one of the most naturally bilingual, family-friendly mornings South Bay has to offer, week in and week out.

A few tips if you're heading down

  • Arrive close to 10 a.m. for the best selection of produce before the popular stands sell out.
  • Bring cash or a card — most vendors take both, but cash keeps the line moving.
  • Street parking fills up fast around Third Avenue, so leave a few extra minutes to find a spot or walk over from a nearby side street.
  • Pair it with breakfast or lunch at one of the Third Avenue restaurants before or after — many owners know their regulars by name.

We know some weekends bring a packed calendar and others are quieter, and we'd rather tell you the truth than pad this list with events that aren't actually confirmed. If you know of a school fundraiser, church bazaar, library story time, or community center activity happening this weekend that we missed, send it our way — we'll gladly feature it next time and give it the spotlight it deserves. Chula Vista's calendar moves fast, and between the City's Parks & Rec programs, the library's cultural arts events, and Third Avenue's regular happenings, there's almost always something brewing even on the lighter weekends.

If you're new to the neighborhood or just haven't made it down to the farmers market yet, this weekend is a great low-key way to get to know Downtown Chula Vista's rhythm — the vendors, the regulars, the little bit of small-town feel tucked into a growing city. It's the kind of Sunday morning that reminds you why so many families choose to put down roots here.

As always, we love sharing what's happening in the neighborhoods we call home — because a great community is part of what makes a house feel like the right place to live. If this roundup helped you plan your weekend, follow the Cardenas & Company Google Business Profile for more local updates, and if you've worked with us before, we'd be so grateful if you left us a quick review there. It genuinely helps other South Bay families find us. See you around the neighborhood!
